You would be hard-pressed to find a more avid golf fan than Graeme Kirkland, CIM

Returning as the official investment partner for the Toronto Golf & Travel Show for January 2026, Graeme has spent his life around the game from a very young age. “I caddied for Tom Woodall and saw some really high-level golf being played,” he says. “But I kind of drifted away from it for a few years and did some other things.”

One of those things was to become an excellent drummer, playing with such notable musicians as Ashley McIsaac. “I was the drummer on one of his albums,” that album being 1996’s Hi How Are You Today? “What a crazy guy,” Graeme adds with a laugh. “But when you get to that level of art, I think you have to be a bit crazy.” Grame took his drumming talents across Toronto, playing on street corners, on other artists’ tracks, and composing his own albums, including Sleep Alone! and Beat Truths. He was voted as “Best Drummer” by NOW magazine’s readers for six consecutive years (1996-2001); the runner up in each of those years was none other than Rush’s Neil Peart.

Today, Graeme is an Investment Advisor with Argosy Securities Inc., managing funds of $130 million, working towards growth of a quarter billion. He has the distinction of CIM—Canadian Investment Manager—which according to his website is, “a prestigious advanced money management designation awarded by the Canadian Securities Institute, Canada’s authority on higher education and advancement for securities professionals throughout Canada.” Scrolling down his webpage, one finds one glowing testimonial after another from his clients, all speaking to a wealth of positive experiences and economic growth that came from working with Graeme.

And, of course, Graeme plays golf.

“I picked it up again as an adult. I love being outside, on the course, the sounds of nature. There’s nothing like it.” Whether alone or with friends and clients, Graeme is committed to bettering his game. Currently, he’s being coached by ex-PGA player Albin Choi. “I know some people refuse to get a coach, but I’m not one of them,” Graeme says proudly. “Anything I can do to get better, I’ll do it.”
Graeme has played on courses all over the world, from Ireland to Jamaica to Panama and across the United States. “I was also invited to Weston Golf Club. That was a great day of golf. Serious tournament. There I was top ranked in Flight C.” Fair weather or foul, he gets out on the course and plays his best. When asked what life lessons he takes from golf, Graeme shared two.

“You will be humbled,” is the first one. “You’ll get out there and you’ll play with other people and you will be humbled. You can learn a lot about playing great golf just by watching others.”

And the second lesson: “There is something I’m found that crosses over from golf to music—and to investing—and that’s being in the Zone. That’s when you’re just in it and not worrying about anything else. Everything flows and feels effortless. If you work hard at it, you will find the Zone, whatever it is you’re doing.”

In addition to sponsoring the Toronto Golf & Travel Show, Graeme is a proud sponsor of the Canadian Junior Golf Association. Founded in 1993, the CJGA provides young players with the opportunity to develop their competitive skills. “I’ve worked with some of these young players,” Graeme says, “and let me tell you, some of them are good.” Graeme sees this kind of work as more than just building golf skills, however. “There are a lot of bad things that can happen to kids, bad things they can get into. The CJGA gives them support, community, a place to build themselves up as well as their golf skills. I think that’s important.”

Graeme can’t wait for this year’s show. “I love golf,” he reiterates. “I love playing it, I love talking about it. There’s no place I’d rather be than on the course.” Players will have the chance to meet and talk with Graeme at the 2026 Toronto Golf & Travel Show, which runs from January 30th to February 1st.
